Perkins V: Section 132
Perkins is a Federal act established to improve career technical education programs, integrate academic and career technical instruction, serve special populations, and meet gender equity needs. Funds are allocated to LEAs as part of the state's Vocational Education Basic Grant Award from the U.S. Department of Education under the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V), previously known as the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006
(Perkins IV).
Perkins V funds are divided into two sections for allotting funds:
Section 131 is for unified and union high school districts
Section 132 is for adult schools and ROCPs
The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, SBC ROP is the consortium lead for the
following adult schools and ROCPs: Baldwin Park Unified, Colton-Redlands-Yucaipa ROP,
Fontana Unified, Pomona Unified, Riverside County Office of Education ROP, and
San Bernardino County ROP
As the consortium lead SBC ROP provides:
- Fiscal oversight
- Program and administrative support
- Technical assistance in reporting
