The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS), through IEConnect, serves as the State of California Registered Pre-Apprenticeship Sponsor for participating high school Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways across the Inland Empire.

A Registered Pre-Apprenticeship is a structured, competency-based program embedded within an approved CTE pathway that prepares students for Registered Apprenticeships and other postsecondary opportunities. Students develop industry-aligned technical and employability skills, connect with apprenticeship sponsors and employers, and earn a State-issued Registered Pre-Apprenticeship Completion Certificate upon successful completion.

Through IEConnect, SBCSS provides one regional system that connects schools, employers, apprenticeship sponsors, community colleges, and workforce partners to deliver high-quality Registered Pre-Apprenticeship programs across the Inland Empire.

Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS) Linkage Agreements

As the State of California Registered Pre-Apprenticeship Sponsor, IEConnect maintains regional linkage agreements with the California Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS). These agreements enable participating school districts to implement Registered Pre-Apprenticeship programs under an established regional framework without developing individual agreements.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

Participating school districts enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) to establish a shared commitment to successful program implementation.

Occupational Competencies

IEConnect works with regional apprenticeship programs and employers to identify foundational occupational competencies that pre-apprentices can gain in their high school pathways. Identified competencies are organized into pre-apprenticeship competency and certification checklists that participating schools can utilize to demonstrate progress and completion. IEConnect develops, maintains, and updates pre-apprenticeship competency and certification checklists in collaboration with regional apprenticeship programs and employers.

Centralized Data Collection

The IEConnect Data Portal serves as the centralized platform for participating school districts to manage Registered Pre-Apprenticeship implementation, student participation, and program reporting. The portal streamlines registration, documentation, certification, and progress monitoring while providing educators with access to the resources needed to successfully implement IEConnect programs.

Through the IEConnect Data Portal, educators can:
